City of Palms Park: Boston Red Sox
Fort Myers is home to two major league baseball spring training facilities. The City of Palms Park is the spring training home to the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. The park was built in 1992 and in the spring of 1993, the Boston Red Sox moved from Winter Haven to the brand new City of Palms Park. The park was done in pure Florida style with a main covered grand stand and palm trees past the outfield fence. When purchasing tickets, there are two sections separated by a concourse. The section closest to the action contains box seats and the section past the concourse contains bleachers.
Lee County Sports Complex: Minnesota Twins
The Lee County Sports Complex in south Fort Myers has been the spring training home to the Minnesota Twins since 1990. The facility boasts five full fields and two half fields. It also serves as the home of the Ft. Myers Miracle (Class A: Florida State League) and the Gulf Coast League Twins. The outside design of the stadium looks much like Churchill Downs with two levels of seats for spring training: box and reserved bleachers.
