Colorful Atlantic Natica
Natica canrena
This shell, shown here, is also known as the Gaudy natica. It is a relative of the shark's eye as can be easily seen by its shape.

This shell, however, has definite markings consisting of wavy brown lines and rows of arrow-shapeddark spots. While the shark's eye is found in an array of different colors, the pattern and colors of the gaudy natica do not fluctuate. The other difference is the size available on the beach. The largest is generally about 2 inches. Like the shark's eye, it is not commonly found alive.
