Junonia
Scaphella junonia
This is undoubtedly the most famous and sought after shell on our coast. The shell it?self is not rare in nature, as it is commonly dredged or captured by divers from deep water and sold in shell shops. It is, however, rare to find one on the beach.

It is virtually impossible to find a live specimen. The junonia does not exhibit pattern or color variations other than some specimens having darker colored spots. The shell shown here is a perfect specimen.
