While they attended the same church throughout their childhood, Bob's involvement with the boy's choir kept them from really getting to know each other until they became friends and then sweethearts in high school.
They were married in Long Island in 1952 after Bob had attended college and served for a year in the military.
After their marriage, Bob went back to graduate school at Cornell, and Ginny took a job at the university as an illustrator.
In 1956, Bob earned his Ph.D. from Cornell and stayed on with the faculty. He retired two years ago.
They have been blessed with three children, Robert, Jr., Elizabeth and Stephen. Elizabeth has two children, John and Sam and Stephen has a daughter, Kelley and a son, Mikey.
When ask to share the secret of their long and happy marriage, Bob had the answer. He said that when they married, they agreed that he would make all the big decisions and Ginny would handle all the small decisions, and that approach had worked perfectly for them since they never had any big decisions.
Best wishes for continued happiness!
